Elżbieta Goerigk

Known as Ela. Since 1985 she has lived in Węgajty, where she runs a farm together with her husband Reinold. (In the first half of the 1980s she worked in a bank in Jonkowo). She makes unique organic preserves. She met Wacław Sobaszek on her way to the Health Centre in Jonkowo, where she was going with her daughter in a pram to be vaccinated. Sobaszek gave them a ride in a rover. She came into closer contact with the Węgajty Theatre in 1995 during the group’s first carolling event in the village of Węgajty. She supports the Theatre’s activities, including those in the village, not only as a neighbour, but also as a member of the Węgajty Association for many years. She welcomes workshop groups, including IST adepts and guests of the Theatre, into her home and kitchen. From the beginning, she has been involved in the organisational side of the Theatre Village festival – she makes rooms available and prepares meals, usually for several dozen people. With her personality, she, like her husband Reinold, makes all the theatre guests who find their way to their farm feel very welcome. Many of them have developed a close, warm relationship with them and are happy to return to their farm or miss them. She is a spectator of the performances presented at the Theatre and participates in many artistic activities organised by the group.
