Jan Bernad

Musician, composer, researcher of traditional cultures. In the years 1974-76, he worked at the Laboratory Theatre and from 1977 to 1983 at the Gardzienice Centre for Theatre Practices. In 1991, he initiated the establishment of the Muzyka Kresów Foundation. He organised festivals of traditional music, concerts, scientific conferences, music workshops and field research. In 2008, he led to the establishment of the Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives "Crossroads". He is the originator and co-creator of, amongst others, the the KODY Festival of Music Tradition and Avant-garde. At his invitation, the Węgajty Village Theatre came to Nowica for the first time, where it performed The Vincenz Stories in the local school and started Christmas Carolling in the villages of the Low Beskids. He co-organised dances in the village of Kunkowa, which were partially prepared by Erdmute Sobaszek.
