Lidia Pajda

Also known as Howgh. She became involved with Węgajty in the late 1990s. Fascinated by music and traditional culture, she came to Węgajty for the first time at the invitation of her friend Zuzanna Krasoczko (Saba Litwińska), to taste the heavenly experience of being with the people associated with the Theatre. Almost from the very beginning she went from being a guest to being an active participant in the workshops, expeditions and activities of the Field Project, the Other Theatre School and the open-air performances: The Ghostly Shroud and Missa Pagana. As a trainee and musician (violin), she took part in carolling events: in Lemkivshchyna and Suwalszczyzna, in Węgajty Sobótki, in Shrovetide: in the Social Welfare Home in Jonkowo, in the Volunteer Fire Station in Węgajty, in penitentiary institutions: in Warsaw and Łódź, in the Psychiatric Hospital in Olsztyn and during the conference dedicated to Jerzy Grotowski in Barcelona. She created a dragon mask that was displayed during Alleluias in the Suwałki region. She participated in a carnival parade in Tarragona, Spain. During her studies in ethnology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Węgajty became the centre of the world, to which, due to her modest budget, she would hitchhike at any time of the year. She is the author of a Master's thesis entitled Rola Teatru Wiejskiego "Węgajty" w życiu kulturalnym społeczności lokalnych (2003). After her studies, she continued to work closely with the Theatre for several years. She settled in Ireland. Although, due to the distance, she participates less frequently in the activities of the group, the bond with the Theatre does not weaken despite the passing time and physical distance.
