Maria Legeżyńska
She comes from Skajboty in Warmia. She is an artist – a graduate of the State Secondary Art School in Olsztyn and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (specialising in ceramics). She is interested in music, especially singing and playing the traditional violin. She came to the Węgajty Theatre in 2015 as a secondary school student, during an open-air painting and theatre workshop. Since then, she has participated in workshops and expeditions of the Other Theatre School many times. During the Theatre Village festivals she worked as a volunteer, from 2019 as volunteer coordinator and from 2020 she is also in charge of the editorial design of the festival newspaper. She performed in the plays: Solstices, Carefree, Hiatus, All this mess, Chronicles of the Night also during performances in: Czech Republic (Plzeň, Prague), Germany (Pathos Theatre in Munich), Theatre of the Eighth Day in Poznań and Dramatic Theatre in Warsaw. In 2021, she participated in the work and online shows: Maski Zozi. The theme of her Bachelor’s thesis and one of the etudes prepared as part of IST – Wykluwanie, became the title of the 2019 Theatre Village festival. She draws on the experience gained at the Węgajty Theatre to co-organise creative community activities, e.g.: the Kuchnia! Teatr pracującej group in 2018-2020 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (with Karol Nagórski), artistic interdisciplinary open-air workshops in Skajboty and Dąbrowa Dolna (with Mateusz Gromadzki), ceramic open-air and traditional song workshops in Zalesie, Belarus. The experience gained in Węgajty also inspires her individual artistic projects.
