Mariusz Papierski

I was born in summer, I first came across the Węgajty Theatre in winter. Wacław Sobaszek came to pick us up at the Godki railway station in his Gess off-road car. There was about two metres of snow, we drove through a snow tunnel to the house of Wacław and Mute. I met unusual people, theatre I had not known before, and sounds I had not heard before. Everything was new to me. I had been pushed into photography much earlier by my wonderful father. His photographs were of occasional events. I was unfulfilled, so I was looking for more in photography. That is why I documented the events and activities of the Węgajty Theatre.

Mariusz Papierski briefly joined the Węgajty Village Theatre as an actor around 1988/89. Musically, he accompanied the group in performances of The Vincenz Stories. He is the creator of unique photographs from expeditions, journeys and performances of the Węgajty Village Theatre. One of his photos became an artistic motif of the first poster of the Węgajty Village Theatre. Exhibitions of his photographs were presented in the theatre building.
