Reinold Goerigk

He comes from a Warmian family. He has lived in Węgajty since he was born. Before he bought the farm in 1985 to run it with his wife Elżbieta, he worked in Olsztyn at the Agricultural Equipment and Transport Construction Company and the Municipal Transport Company. He met Erdmute Sobaszek in the 1980s when she, due to snowdrifts, could not reach the buildings on the Węgajty colony. Reinold and his uncle then transported her by sleigh to her destination. He has supported and continues to support the Theatre’s activities – also those carried out in the village, not only as a neighbour and fireman of the Volunteer Fire Station, but also as a member of the Węgajty Theatre Association for many years. When asked why he gets involved, he replies: "Because such things are worth doing". As the mayor of Węgajty between 2010 and 2018, he co-organised many activities with the Węgajty Theatre, the Węgajty Schola and Kapela Brodów. The celebrations of the 650th anniversary of the village (2016) were particularly rich. Together with the Theatre and also Węgajty residents: Bolesław Pakulski and Leszek Gwiazda, they twice carolled in Węgajty and in Jonkowo, resuscitating an old tradition he knew and participated in as a child. From the beginning, he has been involved in the Theatre Village festival from the organisational side – he organises a campsite for festival guests on his farm. With his personality, he, like his wife Ela, makes all the theatre guests who come to their home feel very comfortable. Many of them have developed a close, warm relationship with the Goerigs and are happy to return to their farm or miss them. A spectator of the productions presented at the Theatre and a participant in many artistic activities organised by the group.
