Zofia Bartoszewicz

Actress, performer, woman of the theatre. She not only plays, but also puts the pieces together, navigates, collaborates, composes, performs and cleans up. She is a housewife and a curator, an independent creator and an animator of non-patriarchal culture. She emancipated herself gradually. She started working with the Węgajty Village Theatre at the age of 22. She co-created, for example The Canterbury Tales (1996), and performed Ludus Paschalis and Ordo Stellae directed by Wolfgang Niklaus. She took part in an expedition to Macedonia (1996) (together with other girls in male and animal costumes to be able to join a group of carol singers in the village of Vevčani). She led solo expeditions to the Suwałki region (including recording the stories of Mr Aleksandr Hudziuk, doing reconnaissance in Dziadówek before Alleluias) and to Vilnius. In 2009, together with Erdmute Sobaszek, she began laboratory work in the theatre hall, the unexpected result of which was the performance The Prologue for a Comedy. Scenes between Poetry and a Document (2010). This is how the next stage of her collaboration with Węgajty began. At the beginning of 2020, she officially leaves the Theatre. During these years, she directed her characters in the performances of the Haz Beszkwej Theatre: Iwona poślubiona (2010), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2011), and created her own scenes in productions: Water 2030 (2010), Earth B. (2011), Fire, Crisis, Central Station (2012), Less! (2015), as well as co-authored scenes (mainly with Emilia Hagelganz) – Earth B., Fire... She has written texts (Less!) and music for plays (Iwona poślubiona, Iwona poślubiona. 2 oraz Woda 2030). She co-created the concepts and co-organised the logistics of several Theatre Villages. She was the curator of the first edition of Happy Jarmark. For years she co-led the Węgajty theatre workshops. Together with Erdmute Sobaszek, she curated four editions of "City on the Road" (2013, 2017-2019). Thanks to her acquaintance with actors Irena Anacka and Jan Jendrycki, her original performances were created Transgresje ciała (2013) and Różowe i żółte (2015). Since 2014 she has been co-founding the Transnationales Labsa Ensemble in Dortmund, led by her friend Emilia Hagelganz.
